Here we have a two centuries old legend. This straight razor is one of the oldest examples of modern straight razors. Although there is no brand or manufacturer information, some small tips give us clear information about itself. The wedge form, the Celebrated Razor Warranted marking on steel and the "The Old English Razor" inscriptions on its own horn scales were common features between 1830-40. Therefore, we estimate that the age of this straight razor is 180-190 years.
The razor was already structurally very good, we meticulously cleaned and polished it. Since its old scales were very worn, we made some new gorgeous horn scales for it. It’s reborn as an attractive model. This razor has a very good balance in hand, and will shave your whiskers gently with the classic Sheffield steel characteristic. With a collection value in terms of both form and age, we recommend it to straight razor enthusiasts, it would make a great addition to anyone's collection and if well taken care for it would easily serve for another two centuries.
Straight Razor Care Instructions
Unlike any other shaving tools, straight razors require special care. The cutting edge must be protected from impacts and contact with any hard surface. After each shave you must clean and dry your straight razor with a soft paper towel without touching the very edge and strop it to keep it sharp. You can strop on the canvas side of your strop to clean the cutting edge after each shave. Please do not try to sharpen your straight razor by yourself if you don’t have adequate honing experience, otherwise you can cause irreparable damage. You may consult our straight razor honing service. If you won’t be using your straight razor for a long time, it’s best to cover it with a thin coat of oil to keep it rust free. This is especially important for straight razors with carbon steels, as carbon steel is very prone to rust in humid conditions. Keep your straight razor in a dry place and out of children’s reach.
